EPSON Perfection 4490
Rather stiff price ($ 320) and impossibility to use some practical features cast serious doubt of consumer orientedness of the given model. From a purely structural point of view, I did not like the scanner due to the fact that its tablet was not sufficiently rigidly attached to the cabinet, causing own elasticity of cover lid lock to shift the tablet when closing. Frames of the transparent originals holders are not well-thought-out as well, as I mentioned above. I remembered the invalid performance of Digital ICE for Films technology when operating with films, as well as the complete absence of functions of disavowing the dust and scratches for the reflective originals. 
In my view, the scanner is unlikely to hit the sales. In the market there are better models, and for less money. As a result, EPSON Perfection 4490 became the scanner, which put into question the integrity of the Perfection line.  EPSON Perfection 4490 driver is here.
